Staff Update
Posted on 12 July 2023
On Saturday 17th June we gave a big farewell to our wonderful George, who has been with us for over eight years. It’s been a fantastic journey and we wish him all the best in his future endeavours.
We are delighted to announce our dark horse Paige has undertaken additional training at The Vidal Sassoon Academy; plus, extensive training at The Wella Studios. Over the last three years her skills have developed significantly and to reflect this Paige has been promoted and will be increasing her prices as of the 1st of August.

Covid Health and Safety Policy update.
It has been fantastic seeing all our lovely clients back in the salon. It has been a wonderful few months almost feeling back to normal, seeing people within a six-week interval of their last appointment. We are grateful for the continued loyalty and support from everyone.
To update you on our Covid Policy, despite the new rules from the government we have decided to keep our current protocol in place for our team members. Covid cases are rapidly rising and without clear guidance for close contact services we have decided it is the right decision for Emotive Hair. We will be reviewing the policy regularly as the data becomes available and we will keep you informed of any changes.
- All the team will continue to wear type 11R 3 layered masks for the protection of our clients and each other when working in close contact.
- Our team will continue to complete a Covid lateral flow test twice a week and report their results.
We know that with us wearing a mask it will be a welcome decision for all our clients. Those clients who choose to wear a masks will be seated downstairs. For those of our clients who are looking forward to mask freedom we will be designating our upstairs salon for this purpose.
We want every client to feel comfortable, but we also want to take every action possible to protect our clients and our staff so that they stay well and continue to provide you with the excellent services that you are accustomed to, but most importantly so that the salon remains OPEN!

Lockdown 3.0
Posted on 8 April 2021
Team Emotive will finally be opening their doors on Tuesday 13th April 2021. Our team cannot wait to be back behind the chair creating fabulous hair. We look forward to welcoming you all back!
Booking Info
We have called all our clients chronologically through March, who missed their appointments in this latest lockdown, so we could offer the fairest opportunity for them to reschedule first. The whole team has contributed to this operation and it has gone extremely well, there are a few clients who have not called back but we have given everyone several weeks to respond.
We are now beginning on our waiting list so if you have called or emailed, we will be calling you very soon! Please if you would like to be added to this list for a call back either call the salon number 01737-247946 or email contactus@emotive-hair.com
Guidelines
We appreciate the guidelines are lengthy, however it is imperative that we all understand why we have these, and by working together, we can make a great success of a new future.
Below is a summary of those guidelines.
What you need to know
- Please bring a face covering with elastic hooked behind your ears. This MUST be worn for the duration of your visit at the salon.
- Please arrive just in time for your scheduled appointment. (GOV. guidelines)
- You must organise a skin test prior to your appointment if: 1) You have not had a colour appointment or skin test within the last 6 months. 2) If you have used a box-dye since your last colour appointment. 3) If you have suffered from an illness that has recently put your immune system under strain (Coronavirus is an example of this).
- Any illness that puts your immune system under strain may cause your body to overreact to colour services. If you are under any doubt or concern that a recent illness may have affected you, you must come in for a skin test and consultation 48 hours or more before your appointment.
- Please avoid bringing unnecessary items such as large bags, shopping, coats/umbrellas unless necessary. A personal storage box is provided for your belongings.
- Please come alone and do not bring other family members with you, unless necessary.
- Please use hand sanitiser provided, before and after your visit.
- Please reschedule your appointment if you have any Coronavirus symptoms or if you believe you may have been in contact with anyone with Coronavirus.
- We are continuing to use our front and back door where possible. We use our outside courtyard to conduct consultations. We have created extra seating in our new upstairs salon for additional safety and to prevent us from having to use plastic screening.
- When working closely with you, the team will be wearing face shields in line with government guidelines alongside the highest medical grade specification Type IIR sterilised masks.
- We have separate mini teams to minimise equipment/product sharing with our upstairs and downstairs salons and all stylists are individually equipped with personal cleaning products.
- We are taking payments from the comfort of your seat to prevent congregating around the desk area.
- We recommend downloading and setting up Apply Pay or Google Pay beforehand on your phone which will negate the need to touch the terminal.
Skin Safety Tips:
The safety of our clients has always been paramount, and we are pleased that continuing these same practices is just as simple and easy as before.
Emotive Hair’s skin safety test procedure will continue as before; if you have had a colour service with 6 months prior to your appointment, no further skin test is required. (unless you have suffered from an illness that has recently put your immune system under strain (Coronavirus). Any illness that puts your immune system under strain may cause your body to overreact to colour services).
Following advice from our colour suppliers, if you have used a box colour between appointments, we will need to carry out a new skin test.
For anyone that requires a skin test, this must be done at least 48 hours prior to your appointment. We will be in touch if this is necessary with dates and times to come in.
Lockdown 2.0
Posted on 18 November 2020
After being back in the salon for the last 4 months adhering to all the government guidelines, creating more space and having a very safe environment for our staff to work in and our clients to receive their hair services we have been asked once again to close for 4 weeks!
This time we feel more prepared because we will all be able to come back together still retaining social distancing as our new upstairs salon is open and running successfully.
The government is saying that we will be able to return to work on Thursday 3rd December, so this is the date we are planning for. Firstly we will accommodate all the clients who have missed an appointment during November, and then we will continue to work through our list of clients who have already expressed an interest in having an appointment in December.
Please send an email to contactus@emotive-hair.com or call 01737 247946 if you would like to be added to the list.
Due to lockdown 2.0 Josie is forced to take an earlier maternity leave. We applaud her stoic attitude over the last 4 months as she has worked along side the team with her usual motivation and vigour. It leaves us to wish her all the absolute best for the birth of the second Emotive baby! (Josie also has a month of outstanding clients who will be given priority appointments)
Finally, we would like to congratulate Paige who during the first lockdown completed her level 3 in hairdressing alongside her Maths and English exams. Paige started with Emotive Hair as a school leaver at the aged 16 to become an apprentice and has worked extremely hard to learn all the skills of the trade to become an accomplished hairstylist. Paige brings consistency, reliability, and support to the Emotive team. We are super proud of her achievements and wish her every success in her hairdressing career with us. Paige is our latest graduate stylist who has recently completed her Colour Craft Correction course at the Wella studio London.
COVID-19 Update:
After a 15 week closure we are ready and prepared to welcome you back to Emotive Hair. A few things have had to change so that we can reopen!
We will be working a seven day week with longer hours starting at 8am and taking our last appointment at 6pm. This will allow us to have less people in the salon, only 3 stylists working on each shift. This is so we can make our environment as safe as possible for our clients and our Emotive team. Please check with your stylist what days they will be working as this varies from week to week.
There are a few guidelines we will need you to adhere to but we really want to keep a happy and fun atmosphere so your experience at Emotive is still enjoyable, as well as receiving a great cut and colour.
To keep everyone safe do not attend your appointment if you feel unwell or if you have had any Covid related symptoms in the past 7 days, or if you have been contacted by Track and Trace in the past 14 days. If this is the case we will reschedule your appointment as soon as possible.
When attending your appointment please;
- Attend your appointment alone.
- Have as few belongings as possible, there are storage boxes for bags and a small jacket.
- We will be wearing visors (government guidance) and we ask you to wear a mask, a disposable mask is best as they can get hairy and could get colour on them.
- We will be wearing disposable aprons and you will be provided with a disposable gown. Our towels are eco friendly and recyclable. All of these items will be changed for each client.
- We have added extra time to each service so we have time to clean and sterilise our equipment and sanitise the surfaces and chairs.
- Bring a hot drink with you as unfortunately we are only allowed to serve bottled water.
- We will take credit card transactions and schedule your next appointment at your seat to prevent a build up of people in the front salon. There is also an exit point at the back of the salon.
- We still accept cash but will provide an envelope for the money to be placed in, so the handling of cash is at a minimum.
- Finally we will ask you to fill in a track and trace form which by law we will need to keep for 21 days after your appointment.
Rest assured you will still leave Emotive Hair feeling fantastic, well cared for and most importantly safe.
